Rangoli is an important part of Hindu culture. It is more than just some decorations on the floor. It is considered auspicious to draw rangoli in Hindu religion during spiritual and religious ceremonies.
Rangoli is a symbol of beauty and auspiciousness and the people decorate their houses on festivals and occasions with pride and pleasure. Mostly females are more involved in drawing Rangoli but there is slow rise in interests of boys too.
Rangoli is generally drawn on mud floor which is smeared with cow dung or in today's modern household on the tiled floors. It is drawn and then decorated with different colors, flowers and ornaments. Few burning lamps can be added as complementary to the decoration.
In the times of festivals footsteps of the goddess of wealth which goes inside the house is also drawn which invites the deity to bless home.
