My mum had spent the whole year looking for a new house, she really wanted to move out and move house, ever since she divorced dad.
Every day I saw her checking the ads in the newspaper and also the estate sale websites, but mum still had no luck.
I remember that one afternoon, just as autumn was beginning, I came home from school and my mother was packing a lot of things.
- Mum, did you buy a new house?
She just smiled and said, "Yesssssss!" and continued packing everything, while I went upstairs to my room assimilating that we were moving out of our comfortable, safe and quiet house.
In two weeks we moved in, I knew nothing about the new house, other than mum had got the purchase very cheap, which I didn't like from the start, but mum was responsible for everything.
I remember we travelled a whole weekend to get to our new destination, a remote and sparsely populated town, where everyone seemed to be scared to death.
Our house was an old property, huge with lots of rooms and a shed full of dust and spider webs just like the whole place, I couldn't believe mum had bought that old house.
We arrived late, so we just went inside and left all the luggage on the driveway, it was cold and apparently the heating wasn't working.
The light from the lamps that leaned against the wall was dim and the house creaked with every step, and the air seemed to seep through the cracks in the wood and sounded like little whistles.
We spent a bad night, the strange thing was that when we woke up, our suitcases were inside the house, mum thought that maybe a friendly neighbour had organised our luggage inside the house.
Days went by and I couldn't sleep, my room was always cold and the furniture changed place every night, but mum never believed me, she thought I was lying.
On Halloween night, mum was baking a delicious pumpkin pie, my favourite, when suddenly all the utensils flew through the air and fell to the floor all at once.
Mum screamed in fear and I was paralyzed with fear, someone was coming down the stairs with thundering footsteps, we both died of fear when we heard someone approaching.
The walls of the house began to bleed, the floor seemed to become muddy and black shadows were passing between the walls everywhere, we couldn't believe it.
Mum grabbed my arm, but just as we were trying to get out, this big, burly man with an evil face was standing in front of the front door with a huge axe and he just said - where do you think you are going? ....

Ella sonriendo solo me dijo
