''for the first nine months or so everyone just thought we were fools [and that Twitter] was the most ridiculous thing they'd ever heard of…” - The Founders of Twitter, Biz Stone, Jack Dorsey and Evan Williams
Here are five major points for taking risks to achieve breakthrough ideas!
1) Believe in Breakthrough Ideas: this might seem like a no-brainer, but the first step is to believe that there are, indeed, ideas which extend beyond our everyday thought processes.
2) Find Your Passion! If you don’t have a passion, find something that sparks the gears inside yourself. Look and examine at your sources of inspiration. It can be anything! Look at what inspires you, on a personal scale.
3) Study! Once you find your passion, learn from the arts, crafts, and disciplines from other people. See what they've done, what they are doing, and how they achieved that specific “breakthrough”. Look at what has worked, what has not worked, and get your creative wheels spinning. Investigate what you don’t know, instead of trying to build and think outside the box with concepts, ideas, or problems that already exist.
4) Don’t take risks for others - take risks for yourself! It is your passion - your creative or intellectual output that might seem risky, but don’t do it for other people, and don’t doubt yourself. This is where your passion comes into the full picture.
5) Embrace uncertainty! Utilize it for your own advantage. Don’t dwell on what you cannot do, but rather use this uncertainty to further propel your own passion in risk taking for creating unique, innovative, and different ideas.
