From the look of things, it seems that artificial intelligence is going to take over from humans. I am a bit concerned about it, more especially when it comes to creating images and videos of real people without their consent. Two days ago my little sister created an AI video of me with just my image. It may look wonderful, but I am afraid. At the same time, day by day, AI keeps advancing and keeps being more powerful. It is so easy to create content that looks incredibly realistic, even when the person using it to create the video is not aware. These have made many people question their safety and privacy and why there should be a need for stricter regulations.
Do you think that artificial intelligence is the enemy?
The truth is that artificial intelligence did not suddenly wake up one morning and decide to create harmful content. Every tool there is created and controlled by people. Just like a computer, camera AI can be used for both positive and negative purposes depending on the person operating it. The same technology that people keep complaining about and abusing can also be used to improve education, help businesses, and make everyday tasks very easy.
From the look of things, AI has become complicated. For instance, using a gun to hurt another person, do you have to blame the existence of the gun rather than that person who misused it? The same applies when someone deliberately misuses AI to humiliate or sexually target someone else. The responsibility should not solely rest on technology.
Yes, AI is very good, and those companies developing AI should be held responsible for certain things this artificial intelligence does. They should try to always reduce the risk; there should be a strong safeguard and reporting system. With this, it will help reduce the misuse of the technology.
The problem since the existence of AI is the way humans choose to use the tools. The honest truth is that AI moves faster than humans, and there is always a problem when humans are introduced to new things because they don’t think about the consequences.
Treating AI as the enemy will not solve anything; rather, it will make sure that people who create with these tools understand that power comes with responsibility. AI is incredibly useful; it needs people who will use it responsibly and not misuse it.
