ลุงจี๊ป วิลลีส์ รถรุ่นเดอะอายุ 61 ปี Our 61-year-old uncle, Jeep Willys.

Hi Steemians and busy users,

The post is my entry to the 'Vehicle Photography Contest Thai Community'. This car belongs to my husband. He drove it while he studied in Chiangmai and the vehicle is with us until now. I called the vehicle as an Uncle!

The vehicle was green back then, and we changed the colour to orange to make it looks fresh and young.

Jeep Willys was built by Willys-Overland Motors, an American automobile. There were more than 60,000 produced, and our car​ was registered in Thailand year 1957, so it is now 61 years old. We don’t know exactly his age because he might have been through Vietnam Laos before Thailand. Maybe he’s older than 61 years old. I look up the history of Jeep and found out that there are many models of Jeep Willys, from the look I think this is Jeep Willys M38 which is based on the CJ-3A.

Our uncle was modified until he might not know who he was before.​ We change the steering wheel from left to right because Thailand is the left-driving country.

I think it had a foldable windshield but when the car came to us it was not foldable. It was modified from 3-speed gear to 4-speed gear.

The fuel filler was moved from driver side to the back and build in the step so his mom can help start the engine every day.

When I first met my husband, he drove me this car, and I felt it was cool. Because I could hardly find this car in Bangkok. He told me that this car has an air-conditioner. He would switch on the air-conditioner for me. I said what? There was no door how come you have the ​air conditioner. But then he opened the air vent in the base of the windshield, and wind flows in. It was hilarious to me. was a good memory until now.

วันนี้จะขอร่วมสนุกกับการประกวด Vehicle Photography Contest Thai Community. # การประกวดภาพถ่าย ยานพาหนะ ด้วยคนค่ะ รถคันนี้เป็นของสามีค่ะ เค้าขับสมัยที่เรียนหนังสืออยู่ที่เชียงใหม่ จนปัจจุบันนี้รถคันนี้ก็ยังอยู่ ก็เลยขอเรียกว่าลุงนะคะ เดิมลุงแกเป็นสีเขียวมาก่อนค่ะ พอเริ่มแก่ตัวมาก็เริ่มซีดเซียวตามกาลเวลา ลูกหลานเริ่มเบื่อหน้าลุงด้วย เลยพาไปเข้าคอร์สเปลี่ยนสีผิว ออกมาสดใสปิ๊งปั๊งอย่างที่เห็น

รถจี๊ป วิลลี่ส์ ผลิตโดยวิลลี่ส์ โอเวอร์แลนด์ มอเตอร์ ซึ่งเป็นผู้ผลิตยนต์กรรมสัญชาติอเมริกัน โดยรถรุ่นนี้มีการผลิตออกมาประมาณ 60,000 คันค่ะ รถคันของเราจดทะเบียนในไทย ปี 2500 ปีนี้ 2561 นับแล้วก็ 61 ปีพอดี ซึ่งไม่รู้แน่ชัดว่ากว่าจะผ่านมาจากเวียดนาม ลาว มาถึงเชียงใหม่ บางทีอาจจะแก่กว่า 61 ปี ก็ได้ พอมาค้นประวัติรถจี๊บรุ่นต่างๆ ก็รู้ว่ามีวิลลี่ส์หลายรุ่นมาก เทียบรูปพรรณสันฐานแล้วคิดว่าน่าจะเป็น จี๊บ วิลลีส์ M38 ซึ่งรุ่น M38 ถูกผลิตขึ้นมาถอดต้นแบบโดยตรงมาจากรุ่น CJ-3A

ลุงแกโดนแปลงโฉมไปจนลุงอาจจำตัวเองไม่ได้ เริ่มตั้งแต่ถูกเปลี่ยนพวงมาลัยมาเป็นด้านขวาเพื่อให้เหมาะสมกับการขับในเมืองไทย เห็นว่ากระจกบานหน้าพับลงได้ด้วยแต่ตอนที่ได้มาเหมือนว่าโดนเชื่อมเอาไว้แล้วจึงพับกระจกหน้ารถลงไม่ได้ เปลี่ยนเกียร์จากเดิมมี 3 เกียร์ ให้เป็น 4 เกียร์ และจากขับเคลื่อน 4 ล้อ เป็นขับเคลื่อน 2 ล้อ ถังน้ำมันถูกย้ายให้ไปอยู่ด้านหลัง นอกจากนี้ยังมีการทำบันไดขั้นกว้าง เผื่อให้คุณแม่ของสามีปีนขึ้นไปสตาร์ทรถให้ทุกวันได้ด้วยค่ะ

ตอนที่เจอกับสามีใหม่ๆ เค้าพานั่งรถคันนี้แล้วรู้สึกเท่มาก เพราะอยู่กรุงเทพฯ แทบไม่เคยเห็นด้วยซ้ำ จำได้ว่าสามีบอกว่ารถคันนี้มีแอร์ด้วย เดี๋ยวเปิดแอร์ให้ งงซิคะจะมีแอร์ไปได้ยังไง ประตูรถก็ไม่มี ปรากฎว่าเค้าง้างช่องรับลมใต้กระจกหน้าออก แล้วก็มีลมพัดเข้ามาค่ะ ตอนนั้นขำหนักมาก และมันก็เป็นความทรงจำที่ดีมาจนทุกวันนี้ค่ะ
