En esta ocasión quiero compartirles una de mis cacerías más tensas en Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Se trata de la misión urgente necesaria para subir al rango 6, una batalla contra el veloz y sigiloso Nargacuga.
Para esta misión decidí usar un arco, un arma que me permitió mantener la distancia, moverme con libertad y buscar los mejores momentos para disparar. Sin embargo, enfrentar a Nargacuga con un arma a distancia también significaba que debía estar atento a cada uno de sus saltos, embestidas y ataques con la cola.

This time I want to share one of my most intense hunts in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. It was the urgent quest required to reach rank 6, a battle against the fast and stealthy Nargacuga.
For this quest, I decided to use a bow, a weapon that allowed me to keep my distance, move freely, and look for the best opportunities to fire. However, facing Nargacuga with a ranged weapon also meant that I had to pay attention to every leap, charge, and tail attack.
El bosque nocturno se sentía más oscuro de lo habitual. Mientras avanzaba, encontré huellas, arañazos en los árboles y restos de pequeñas criaturas. Sabía que Nargacuga estaba cerca, pero no podía verlo. Ese era precisamente el problema: cuando peleas contra esta criatura, el silencio puede ser más peligroso que un rugido.
De pronto, un sonido grave rompió la calma. Nargacuga descendió desde una rama y aterrizó frente a mí como una sombra viva. Sus ojos brillaban entre la oscuridad y su postura dejaba claro que no me daría mucho tiempo para reaccionar.
Retrocedí rápidamente, tensé el arco y preparé mi primera flecha. Mi objetivo era evitar el combate cercano y atacar después de sus movimientos más arriesgados. Cada vez que terminaba una embestida, quedaba expuesto durante unos segundos; allí aprovechaba para disparar a sus alas, cabeza o cola.
The nighttime forest felt darker than usual. As I moved forward, I found tracks, scratches on the trees, and remains of small creatures. I knew Nargacuga was nearby, but I could not see it. That was the real problem: when fighting this creature, silence can be more dangerous than a roar.
Suddenly, a deep sound broke the calm. Nargacuga came down from a branch and landed in front of me like a living shadow. Its eyes shone in the darkness, and its posture made it clear that it would not give me much time to react.
I quickly moved back, drew my bow, and prepared my first arrow. My goal was to avoid close combat and attack after its riskiest movements. Every time it finished a charge, it was exposed for a few seconds; that was when I aimed at its wings, head, or tail.
La batalla se convirtió en una prueba de paciencia y movilidad. Corría, rodaba para esquivar sus ataques y cargaba mis flechas mientras esperaba una oportunidad segura. Nargacuga era increíblemente rápido: desaparecía entre los arbustos, saltaba desde diferentes direcciones y lanzaba las púas de su cola como proyectiles.
Poco a poco, sus movimientos empezaron a perder precisión. Aproveché ese momento para colocar una trampa eléctrica. Cuando cayó inmovilizado, descargué varias flechas cargadas antes de que pudiera escapar. Aun así, la bestia resistió y huyó hacia su guarida.
Lo seguí con cautela, usando mis últimas pociones y procurando no gastar flechas sin necesidad. En su guarida, Nargacuga lanzó un último rugido antes de volver a atacar. Esperé el instante justo, tensé el arco al máximo y solté una flecha cargada que atravesó la oscuridad. Finalmente, el monstruo cayó derrotado.
The battle became a test of patience and mobility. I ran, rolled to dodge its attacks, and charged my arrows while waiting for a safe opening. Nargacuga was incredibly fast: it disappeared into the bushes, leaped from different directions, and fired the spikes from its tail like projectiles.
Little by little, its movements started to lose precision. I took that moment to place a shock trap. When it was immobilized, I released several charged arrows before it could escape. Even so, the beast endured the damage and fled to its nest.
I followed it carefully, using my last potions and trying not to waste arrows unnecessarily. In its nest, Nargacuga let out one final roar before attacking again. I waited for the right moment, fully drew my bow, and released a charged arrow that crossed the darkness. Finally, the monster fell defeated.
Esta cacería me dejó claro que el arco puede ser una excelente opción contra monstruos veloces. No se trata solamente de disparar desde lejos: hay que conocer los movimientos del enemigo, administrar los recursos y mantener la calma cuando la pelea se complica.
Derrotar a Nargacuga no fue solo completar una misión urgente. También fue superar una prueba de paciencia, precisión y reflejos. Con esta victoria, el rango 6 ya estaba mucho más cerca.

This hunt showed me that the bow can be an excellent choice against fast monsters. It is not only about shooting from a distance: you need to understand the enemy's movements, manage your resources, and stay calm when the fight becomes difficult.
Defeating Nargacuga was not just about completing an urgent quest. It was also about overcoming a test of patience, precision, and reflexes. With this victory, rank 6 was much closer.
