Today I bring you an indie that has me completely hooked: Buckshot Roulette, a tabletop horror game created by Estonian developer Mike Klubnika, originally released on itch.io in December 2023. Its concept reimagines the infamous game of Russian roulette, replacing the traditional revolver with a 12-gauge shotgun. The result is a short, intense and surprisingly strategic experience that went viral among content creators and players.
La ambientación es uno de sus mayores aciertos. La acción transcurre en lo alto de un club nocturno subterráneo, donde las barandas de metal tiemblan al ritmo de cajas de ritmos olvidadas. Frente al jugador se encuentra The Dealer, una entidad con cabeza flotante y una sonrisa de dientes afilados que actúa como crupier. The atmosphere is one of its greatest achievements. The action takes place at the top of an underground nightclub, where metal railings tremble to the pulse of long-lost drum machines. Facing the player is The Dealer, a floating-headed entity with a sharp-toothed grin who acts as the croupier. Before starting, he makes you sign a liability waiver, a detail that already warns you about the dark and sinister tone of what's coming.
En cada turno, el jugador decide si dispararse o apuntar al rival. Si se dispara con un cartucho de fogueo, conserva el turno. Esa posibilidad invita a pensar más allá del disparo inmediato: cada partida se convierte en una mezcla de probabilidad, deducción y gestión de recursos, donde el atractivo está en la tensión entre lo que sabemos y lo que todavía permanece oculto.
On each turn, the player decides whether to shoot themselves or aim at the opponent. If they fire a blank shell at themselves, they keep the turn. That possibility invites you to think beyond the immediate shot: every match becomes a mix of probability, deduction and resource management, where the appeal lies in the tension between what we know and what remains hidden.

In the main mode, items start appearing from the second round onwards. For example, the handcuffs make the opponent skip their next turn entirely. The strategy lies in assessing when to use your available resources instead of spending them on impulse, because every decision can feel like a small bet within a much bigger one.
La estructura principal consta de tres rondas contra The Dealer, con partidas de entre 15 y 20 minutos, además del modo Double or Nothing para quien busque más riesgo. El 31 de octubre de 2024 llegó una actualización gratuita con multijugador para hasta cuatro jugadores, donde la traición entre amigos se convierte en el ingrediente principal.
The main structure consists of three rounds against The Dealer, with matches lasting 15 to 20 minutes, plus the Double or Nothing mode for those seeking more risk. On October 31, 2024, a free update arrived with multiplayer for up to four players, where betrayal between friends becomes the main ingredient.
