A typical bitcoin transaction benefits from the fact that any miner can process it by adding it to their next block. On the other hand, a lightning network transaction must be routed through a network of nodes in order to be successful, relying on a completely different trust model.
The odds may always be stacked in favor of the rich and powerful, but we should stay aware of the implications of emerging technology.
