Spring time
I love spring time. It is a time to get outside and start enjoying nature. It is so beautiful to watch the flowers bloom. I have been doing some research, and have found some very interesting facts about some of the plants and trees that I have in my yard.
Daffodil
Daffodils contain toxic alkaloids, if you were to eat the stem, petal or even the bulb you may have these symptoms dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, and pain. The daffodil only blooms in the spring. Every year when I see them bloom, I know spring has come. The Daffodil comes from Portugal and Spain. They are beautiful but deadly flower.
The Bradford Pear tree
People are not to fawned of this tree. I have always liked this tree. The articles I have read about bradford pear trees, say the tree is a curse. I have two in my yard, and they were here when we moved to the house. The bradford pear tree does not have a long life span. The tree also does not grow any pears. The bradford pear tree cross pollinate, and have proliferated across the environment. It's offspring forms thorny thickets called callery pears that choke out other wooded trees such as pine, dogwoods, oak, maples, hickories and other hardwood trees. The thorns that are produced can be a burden to humans and their yards. The thorns can not be mowed down and they tear up tractor tires or lawn mower tires. I have not had any thorns in my yard yet.
