DIY Blanket Ladder
The blanket ladder was easy to make and it was not to time consuming. It is very cheap to make. I love this decorative piece in my living room. I have always wanted one, so I built one after I seen how much they cost. I am a thrifty person. If I see something in the store and it is too expensive, I will try to make it at home. I built my ladder 5 ft in length.
Material List
- 2 8 ft wood ( 1 3/8 x 1 3/8 inch in size)
- 1 8 ft wood ( 1 in x 1 in) this wood is for the steps
- drill
- Saw
- Tape measure
- sand paper ( fine)
- wood screws ( 2 1/2 inch to 3 inch) I used 3 inch
- Stain ( I used american oak )
- cloth or rag to stain the wood
Instructions
Saw the two - 8 ft (1 3/8 x 1 3/8) pieces of wood to 5 ft in length. Next you will take the 1- 8 ft (1 inch by 1 inch)piece of wood and cut 4 pieces in 16 inches in length.
Then after cutting the wood, line up the wood to make a ladder. At the bottom of the ladder put a board at the end to make it straight and even. The steps start 18 inches from the bottom of the ladder and it leaves 6 inches at the top. It needs to be longer at the bottom so you can hang the blanket on the bottom step.
Next you will need to use your tape measure, drill, and screws. At the bottom of the ladder it needs to measure 18 inches. Screw in on each side and make sure you measure so it will be even on both sides. After you have the bottom step screwed in the next step needs to be 12 inch apart.
Last, sand your wood if it as some rough spots. Then stain and you are finished. You will have a beautiful blanket ladder. The ladder is easy to make, and it is an inexpensive project that adds beauty to a home. I hope you enjoyed this post.
