"Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success." – Henry Ford

Hive is not simply a blockchain - it is a decision, a mindset and a like minded community that shares in the growth of such.

THE WHAT, WHY, WHO & WHERE OF IT ALL

These are my five...

WHAT

(What Hive offers you as an individual)

When I joined the crypto world in early 2018, I was completely lost. I almost gave up. The only thing that kept me going was the opportunity to actually share my thoughts to the world, however wrong or weird they may be. But even in all that, there was something missing. I felt like I didn't belong. It was like struggling to keep your head above water.

But that changed when hive was given to us.

For the first time, I found a safe platform. Yes, I connected with a few people before but it was the what can you offer me? kind of relationship. Everyone wanted something in return. Here it's different. I stopped being scared about sharing my pain and grief.

I wouldn't be wrong when I say hive offers me a platform to be open about my feelings. I've connected with more people here. Genuine humans. I've also found communities that take time to follow up on individuals and give sincere feedbacks on their works. That alone gives a different kind of motivation. It makes you want to be better and that could take you places in future when done the right way.

WHY

(How Hive is different to other social media and blogging platforms)

The Connection
There's a sense of calm that comes with knowing that there're people who actually read and understand you, and they want you to be better. People who you haven't and may never meet in real life. It keeps one going.

The Appreciation
Another thing is seeing something come from your efforts. We are all human beings and when you write your hearts out with nothing to show for it, it hits in a different way. Here on hive, it's real. Genuine comments and follow up from people who sincerely care and want you to do better, to be better.

I find it easy to reach out to people here. The responses warm my heart as well.

WHO

(People & spaces you find Hive support and gain enthusiasm from)

The first community that embraced my writings is The Ink Well. I continued writing and sharing my fictions and poetries when ordinarily, I would have given up. raj808@raj808 gave me a reason to continue. jayna@jayna and mariannewest@mariannewest might not know this but they have been an inspiration too. trukelife-family@trukelife-family isn't left out. Their thoughts, feedbacks and writings have helped me to hold on.

Then of course Power House Creatives. It was the first community that made me feel comfortable enough to share my personal life. jaynie@jaynie is amazing. I'm not sure she knows this. The first post I shared to this very community got so much love it left me overwhelmed. I'm sure you understand what it means to be seen without judging. That's exactly what it was like for me. And it doesn't end there, the support is still there and I know it will always be.

WHERE

(The front ends / dapps of your choice and why)

My first go to front end is hive.blog. What I like the most about it is the font and how the posts show after they are being published.

Peakd follows closely. There're more options to choose from here. More tags too. What I like most about it is the restriction when it comes to title. It doesn't let you use the same title on another post. You have to make a few changes. For someone like me who writes fiction and forgets the title, it helps keep things in check.

Esteem Ecency is next. I particularly like the dark mode. Also the fact that you get to earn a small percentage when you post from the app. I also like the pin lock request. Security is important. Another is how it separates your feed, new, hot and top posts. You can reach them easily.

#THRIVEONHIVE

(My final thoughts & conclusion)

Hive has helped me to move out of my comfort zone. For people who know me, it isn't an easy thing to do. But I'm glad that I found a family here, and people who may not really know how much of an inspiration they have been and how much they've helped. For that, I'll always be grateful.
