My son Alex just started wrestling. He's in 8th grade now. He's a big kid (he worksout with me and even sometimes just by himself when I am too lazy to, plus he does pushups everyday) he turns 14 this month, so he coulda either been a young freshman in highschool or an older 8th grader. we opted to take it easy on him learning wise and have him do well in getting back to school.
I talked to him one time and mentioned how I am NOT athletic, but do enjoy two athletic type things.. lifting weights and wrestling. (I meant grappling, BJJ to be specific) but do wish I had tried wrestling when in school. So, to my surprise he signed up for wrestling at his school! :)
The kids need to get their own stuff, so we bought him some wrestling shoes. We'll see if there are more purchases coming like headgear, singlets, etc. I was also thinking I might get some folding mats so I can practice with him later.. like positions and takedowns or whatever..
