When I first heard about Web 3, I did not really understand what it meant. I only heard people talk about Bitcoin and how some people became rich overnight. Back then, I thought it was all a scam. I told myself I would never waste my time or money on it.
My real journey began in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown. I was spending more time online and reading many posts. One day, a friend told me about crypto blogging on steemit and blurt, that was my first encounter. He said, “You can write your thoughts and get paid in crypto.” I laughed at first, but my curiosity made me try it out.
Writing about my daily life, my thoughts, and even poems on These plartforms was were i started. Slowly, I earned small tokens. A large amount of hope came into me just by Seeing my wallet balance grow. I then learned about other parts of Web 3 like crypto trading, DeFi, and NFTs. Each area looked like a big ocean, and I felt like a small fish.
At first, I faced many doubts. I did not trust crypto wallets. I thought, “What if this site disappears tomorrow?” Also, I lost some money to bad trades because I did not know how to read the charts well. Scams were everywhere fake airdrops, rug pulls, and shady projects promising quick profits. I wanted to give up at this point
But you know, just like other guys , the story of the real success experienced by other people by just being patient and learning gave me hope.
I joined Web 3 communities on Discord and Telegram. I asked many questions, watched YouTube videos, and read blogs. I realized that the key was to learn every day and never invest more than I could afford to lose.
Right now, my Web 3 journey is still growing. I now have a better understanding of Hive, DeFi, and a little bit of NFT trading. I don’t rush anymore.
So before i jump into any project , i have to do some research.
My favorite part of Web 3 is crypto blogging. Why? Not just because of the tokens being earned from it but it allows me to express myself, learn from other writers thereby getting smarter, it is like being paid to get smarter.
I have been able to connect with people from different countries as a result of writting. I have made friends and even gotten freelance jobs through Hive.
One lesson I would love to share with anyone who wants to join Web 3 is this: Do not rush. Do not believe that money will fall from the sky. Study first. Join genuine communities. Ask the needed questions. and the most important of them all ,Learn how to protect your wallet. Take security seriously. Also, never put in money that you cannot sleep without.
So what am i trying to say ,You can either be lifted up or down by web 3 , it is like a new world on its own
But just like any other craft , with patience, learning, and care, you can enjoy its benefits and grow with it. I am still learning every day, and I hope to see more people grow with me in this vast space.
This is my story.
