I met up with a friend for dinner, but we couldn't agree on where to go or what to eat. She mentioned foods that she desired, as did I, but we wanted to have something in common right then and there. She stated she wanted food like burgers and fries, and I responded I'd prefer to have Chinese food like pan-fried carrot cake and kolo mee. We both named a few more dishes until we both agreed on BBQ. LOL. While on that thought we both were drooling whilst hoping and dreaming of those skewered pork bbq or Isaw ( pork intestines bbq ) specifically the ones being sold in the streets back home. Goodness! Haha
After eventually agreeing on a BBQ, we chose a location. Not quite what we were looking for, but something close at least. We then called a friend for recommendations, which led us to Hungry Bar & Bistro. The place was small and had only a few tables, around 6-7 if I'm not mistaken. The ambiance, on the other hand, was interesting and neat. I was grinning at the wall, wondering what had happened to the headless pork. My friend then said that given Brunei is a Muslim country, it might have something to do with honoring their culture. or NOT. We don't know because I didn't question the crew. Perhaps next time.
Then the menu came, I love their tagline which says 'come hungry, leave happy. I was like, fine, let's see if it stays true! We then ordered smoked back ribs and chargrilled pork steak. It took a long for the food to arrive, but when it did, it was incredible. We started digging in because it looked lovely and the taste? It was delectable. Their meat was tender and full of fresh herbs taste that fantastically made it superb! Their sauce was delish too!
I completed my meal first, and while waiting for my friend, I looked over at the next table. I was delighted to discover that they also had lamb. That will be my next meal for sure!
And, yes, their tagline is genuine. After devouring their steak, you will undoubtedly leave satisfied and eager to return.
