The Big Idea
While gazing enviously at the legendary Quix that my lucky guildmate just pulled from a Chaos Legion pack, I had an idea! Reward chests a couple weeks ago had given me Djinn Chwala and Twilight Basilisk, and this season I got Naga Assassin, so why not try renting Quix and see what I could put together for a team? Sure enough, Quix wasn't too expensive to rent, and I found a couple more dragons to round things out. Now to put it to the test!
Putting It To the Test
A couple of battles confirmed that my theory crafting had worked out. Each battle is different depending on the ruleset, but the general strategy is to tank with Djinn Chwala (sometimes backed up by Twilight Basilisk), debuff the enemy heals with Serpentine Mystic, and deal damage with Fire Spitter and Naga Assassin. An example is this battle: (I should note that I am a newer player with < 2000 CP so my card choices are pretty limited)
We had a mana cap of 99 so I chose to pair the Dragons with Fire splinter to get access to the beefy Molten Ash Golem as a second tank and a couple of useful damage dealers. Fire Elemental with Blast helps wear down the opposition, and The Tenyii Striker with good health and Sneak to harass the back or their line. In this case it turned out that the enemy didn't have any heals so the Serpentine Mystic's ability wasn't of use, but he still adds a bit of magic damage and keeps the enemy snipers off the big dps for a little bit longer.
It helped that my opponent chose to place his Shieldbearer in the second slot as it meant that the Blast from the Fire Elemental went to both the front line Defender and the Mantoid to wear them down faster.
After two rounds both of his tanks were down with the loss of only my first one - and all he had left was ranged, so no attacks from the front one!
They managed to take the last health point from the Golem, but that was the only other damage they achieved before the last of them fell.
