34 Mana Barthalamus Team Brings Me Another Victory | Modern Ranked Battle In Splinterlands
Hey guys, how is your Splinterlands matches been going? Here to share another Modern Ranked battle with everyone. This time I got a battle with 34 Mana, so had to think carefully about which cards would work best.
The battle had a Fire & Regret modifier, which meant all units had Return Fire. This made ranged attacks a little more risky because they would return 50% of the ranged damage back to the attacker. I decided to use Barthalamus again as my summoner and build a team around some cards that I have been enjoying using.
Match details
Mana: 34
Elements: All Elements
Ruleset: Standard
Fire & Regret: All Units have Return Fire (returns 50% of ranged damage to attacker, rounded up).
Since there was only one special modifier in this battle, I mainly focused on building a team that could deal with the enemy attacks and survive for enough rounds. I also had to keep in mind that using ranged attackers could be dangerous because of the Return Fire effect.
My Team
With 34 Mana available, I decided to use Barthalamus again.
For the summoner, I chose Barthalamus. His ability to give all friendly units +1 Speed is something I really like because having extra speed can help my cards attack earlier and avoid some attacks.
Here was my lineup:
Summoner
Barthalamus
1st Position – Jolius Blast
2nd Position – Frankarsgard
3rd Position – New Beluroc Aegis
My Team
I placed Jolius Blast in the first position because I wanted a strong card to take the enemy attacks from the front.
Behind him, I placed Frankarsgard. He is another strong card and I thought he would be useful to continue the fight after Jolius Blast.
For the third position, I used New Beluroc Aegis. One of the main reasons I liked having him in this position was his Taunt ability. It draws the attacks of enemy units, so I thought he could help protect the rest of my team by taking attacks toward himself.
The +1 Speed from Barthalamus was also something I was hoping would help my team. With 34 Mana I had a little more room compared to my previous 31 Mana battle, so I was able to bring these three cards together.
I was not completely sure how the team would perform against my opponent, but I was hoping the combination of Jolius Blast, Frankarsgard and New Beluroc Aegis would be enough to bring another victory.
How the Battle Went
My enemy was ZAHEL and they also brought a strong lineup.
The battle started and Jolius Blast was immediately put to work in the first position. I was mainly watching to see how long my frontline could survive against the enemy attacks.
New Beluroc Aegis was also an important part of my strategy because of his Taunt ability. Having him draw attacks from the enemy could help my other cards stay alive for longer.
I was also interested to see how Barthalamus would help my team. The +1 Speed given to all friendly units meant my cards had some extra speed, which can always be useful in these battles.
The Fire & Regret modifier also made the battle more interesting. Since ranged damage could be returned to the attacker, I was glad that my strategy was not depending heavily on ranged attacks.
As the rounds continued, both teams kept attacking each other. Jolius Blast continued fighting from the front while Frankarsgard stayed behind him. New Beluroc Aegis also played his part by drawing attacks with Taunt.
The battle lasted for 7 rounds, so it was not an extremely quick victory. My team had to keep fighting for quite some time, but slowly the enemy team started losing cards.
Finally my team was able to finish the battle with a VICTORY.
Honestly, I was happy to get another victory with Barthalamus. The team worked quite well together and the +1 Speed from the summoner was again useful.
So I got another +20 rating and my final rating became 340 in Bronze III in Modern Ranked. I also received +82 Glint from the battle. I still had 49/50 energy available for more battles.
I also received a daily streak reward which gave me +75 Sparks. Getting some extra Sparks after the battle was nice and gives me something more to use in the Spark Shop.
Looking Ahead
This was another enjoyable Modern Ranked battle for me. With 34 Mana available, I decided to use Barthalamus again and build a team around three cards.
I really enjoyed how the team worked together. Jolius Blast took the frontline, Frankarsgard supported him from behind and New Beluroc Aegis helped by using his Taunt ability to draw enemy attacks.
The Fire & Regret modifier also made the battle a little different because ranged attacks could return damage to the attacker.
In the end, my team was able to withstand the 7-round battle and give me another victory. This resulted in a +20 rating and, as a result, my rating is now 340 in Bronze III, with +82 Glint and +75 Sparks as the daily streak's reward.
Now I'm going to continue with more of these Modern Ranked battles and hopefully move up from Bronze III. I still have plenty of energy left, so maybe another battle will come along to give me yet another good result.
Thank you all for taking the time to read my battle report.
