Hey Jessocialists
So I started watching the last season of Mr Robot and sorry spoilers in it they plan to hack all the worlds wealthiest people called the Deus Group, the 1% of the 1% with all the money. They plan to hack their bank accounts and redistribute all the wealth evenly back to the people, and everyone would live happily ever after. All the worlds problems are now solved because everyone has an equal amount of money.
It is a utopian ideal and shows how we fundamentally don't understand money. Money has taken on a life of its own, and people see it as a means to an end. A way to get all the stuff you want. Money has taken on this idea that all it is, is to be consumed.
Storing value in alternative means
Money was created as the best way to store the value of alternative means. That's all it ever was and should have been, a convenient solution, instead of having to barter with someone and then looking for another who wants what you have.
You could sell what you produce or your labour for money and "Store" it to be transformed into something you would wish to own later on.
So why is this important and what has it got to do with all of us getting the same amount of money? Well, I'm getting to it.

The big reset
I gave it some thought, about how the redistribution of wealth on this extreme level would do to society to help even things out and close the wealth gap. It would probably do so for a good 10 minutes before we see wealth inequality come back into play.
There will be a new set of winners and losers, most of the old winners will be winners again, and we would be back to a sort of square one in a matter of years. Perhaps even one generation.
The problem with handouts
When you give people money without them having to work for it and without providing them with financial education, a couple of things happen. One is you don't value the money because you did nothing to get it, it was a gift in your mind and something you deserve for your hard life of struggles, and you can come up with all sorts of motivations to treat yourself.
Secondly, without financial education, you only know one thing to do with money, and that's to spend it. You'll be spending money as fast as you got it, which isn't a bad thing because entrepreneurs and others who know how to manage money will be the ones taking your payment and providing you with goods and services.
However, many of these people will think very little about preserving the money or augmenting their spending, investing, working, starting a business. It would result in a spend frenzy that would see prices of certain good skyrocket as demand becomes high. So effective your buying power is much less than you thought it would be and it won't be long before people start running out of money and going broke.
Change is needed
It is an exciting idea, but I don't think it's practical with the way society is geared to the consumer as much as possible. While I do think we need a change, it needs to be in a way that money is a reward for those who bring value. Not speculative value, not perceived value but real value.
What do you think would happen if we split all the money equally? Let me know in the comment below.
