Hey Jessanarchists

Cryptocurrency is still relatively small with around 1% of the world's population owning this asset class and while many more have heard of it, they still remain unconvinced over its use and I do not blame them, it takes a lot of mental gymnastics to fully embrace and understands the beauty of cryptocurrency so there are certain behaviours that are understandable but need to be changed over time.

The behaviour I'm referring to is the use of centralised exchanges, they will always be there, they're not going anywhere unless they are banned out of existence which I do not see happening. Exchanges are market makers and help set the price of a token along with providing a place for liquidity to flow between currencies.

While I get that this is important, it should not be the be-all or end-all of the crypto trading experience.

What is P2P trading?

P2P trading is just a fancy term for partnering since we like to abbreviate everything the modern world. Instead of going to an institution with your money or skills that assume liability and perform the task of a settlement layer, 2 people come together and well trade. This could be fiat for crypto, for products for services, it doesn't matter.

If you look at it now, HIVE is a P2P network of sorts, we trade content creation for crypto and engage in various ways. Having this behaviour moved into other trading hardly seems crazy. Giving someone 500 HIVE for cash in his country as I travel should be something that becomes normal as the HIVE ecosystem grows and with any crypto for that matter.

Why should I use banks, when I can use people?

Where I would like to see P2P trading go in the future?

In the future I'd like to see social networks and wallets come closer together, we can see it already happening with apps like HIVE and Libra it's going to happen whether we like it or not, just how decentralised we want it will be up to the individual.

I don't see why in the future chekohler.crypto can't be my online location for anyone wanting to see what I have on offer lets say I have 0.1 BTC and they can make an offer for it for another currency or product.

Digital bartering needs to be normalised and I think we're getting there slowly. It may sound like a weird concept now but did you really think 10 years ago we'd be posting pictures online of everything we eat and it would be normal to do so? The world is a strange place, embrace it! Strange is coming!

Have your say

What do you good people of HIVE think?

So have at it my Jessies! If you don't have something to comment, comment "I am a Jessie."
