What a powerful story and it's great that you turned it into a learning and postive experience, thats how we humans learn and grow through failure and adversity, if we don't have these experiences we end up appreciating nothing and become hollow for it. It's all about discipline, consistency and humility and you will get where you want to be but the path won't be a straight line
