Many Nigerians will say as they usually say that Nigerians are the luckiest when it comes to weather just because we have just two weather here which are rainy season and dry season whereas most countries has three to four weathers like spring , Summer, winter, spring and so on. Though I wouldn't say we aren't lucky but the way it's been said like we don't literally feel it deeply like others do talk about their weather is not so. Those two weather we have ,the impact of them on our daily life shouldn't makes us just talk about it casually like that, it something we do feel deeply.
The Rainy season is known to appear from the month of April to the month of November, for century this has been the months when we get ready to experience Rain in our country, this month my dad will start planting some fruit crops in the compound so are farmers as well, they will say the land won't be hard to cultivate at that time ,rain becomes more heavy during some months like June and September,we do experience heavy rainfall then.
While the Dry season appears in month of November to month of March, during the late year, November, December to January of the next year, the dry season comes with harmattan,it has always been so, during harmattan,it do feel like winter but just mild especially in the morning,accompanied with cold and dust, the cones the next months from February to March which we are experiencing now, is this scorching sun that once you enter it ,just prepare to use paracetamol when you get home, headache will want to finish you, heat rashes all over our body, season that even fan blows heat and you will be surprised if you on fan or you on oven.
When we now talk about this two weather,it's effects is equal to having four weather, that's why I don't follow them to say we are the luckiest when it comes to weather, some properties,lives has been lost to rainfall, floods that destroys a whole community, many farm crops has been washed away, will you tell those victims we are the luckiest when it comes to weather??? What about Dry season that most People visit hospital especially children that are easily opened to sickness, not all body can endure the crazy heat during this time, anywhere there is crowd, people collapse,heat with traffic,some people collapse of the choking,heat will disturb all your immune system and you won't be able to explain what you feel in you.
So, I do say God split this things for us, if we are to have another weather except from this two, it would have been worse for us.
So, about climate change,those months I explained as Rainy and dry season has been like that since century but nowadays it's not like that anymore, nowadays we experience delay rain, sometimes we won't even experience heavy rain till the end of that year and some times it will be heavy rainfall that will be destroying properties and taking lives.farmers cannot predict their cultivation anymore unlike before, it affects our food economy. The heat was not this hard before but now even the midnight comes worse with heat. The changes in climate has been slightly one year by year but after many years the changes are now visible,they have been a very glaring changes in our climate and it not only in Nigeria that we experience that,I was informed the experience changes in climate too in other countries, well it will be so because weather connects us worldwide.
