Hello everyone!
Here's my entry for this week's topic.
Enjoy!
So many of us are faced with different activities which require our attention daily. Asides home management and personal grooming, we also have to deal with jobs(sometimes multiple jobs), skills, etc. And trying to fit in all of these things could be exhausting especially if we have no mapped out strategy to carry them out. Worse still, we may end up carrying out the activities which may not be our major goals for that day and end up feeling under-fulfilled. Then, in a bid to set things right, we might upset the normal state of things, like depriving ourselves sleep to do them or even doing them at the expense of something else.
I consider myself someone who can handle lots of task effectively but at some point this year, I was joggling work at home, handling my personal needs, attending to my skill and also my job. At some point in that time, it got really tiring. I couldn't even find the fun and willingness I had earlier when I started handling them all to do anyone well. I was always tired and everything was a huge task to me. For everytime I remembered I had to do any of those things, a sigh left my lips. Yet, I still didn't let go of any of them. I kept trying and not long after, I had a clash of priorities. Worse still, I couldn't even sleep properly as I had to work late into the night sometimes and for other times when I had a bit of free time at night, I'll sit up busying with my phone not realizing how far the night had gone. When eventually I wake up the next day, I would have a sack underneath my eyes. Crazy times!
I knew if i continued that way, i may fail at everything or even fall ill so I created a schedule to fit everything in and help give me some sort of direction and those are what I'll be sharing with you.
Checklists
So , I make a list of everything I am to do for a particular day and for everyone I do, I tick off the list. Seeing all the tick-offs motivates me to finish up the rest.
Personal
Here, I just have a set time mostly between the late afternoon and early evenings where I do anything I please. I can take a short nap, a walk, browse my phone, have a cool shower, and so on. Basically, all I do is unwind and just chill.
Reduced distractions.
I know those things that make me inefficient and unproductive and try to curtail them as best as i can. Be it my phone, the tv, whatever. I just reduce them. Instead I focus the energy into doing something worthwhile.
Scheduling events
I plan my outings, work and everything else. Also, I try not to do anything else not stated down that may disrupt the order of things laid out.
Timing.
Timing is everything. You don't want to be working when your body needs rest. Using my phone, beside every schedule I make, I set a time frame within which I must perform a particular activity and when the time elapses, i move on to the next thing on the list. Timing keeps me focused and puts me on my toes in a healthy way. I try to think that if I do not get that particular activity finished in time, I may lose something, that way, I focus my energy there.
There they are!
I've been able to master these acts and follow them thoroughly that way I do not lose myself.
Trying to force in so many things together is a no-no! As it is a step to doom. Do as little or as much as you can so you can give in all your best and be highly productive.
Take care of yourself.
Thanks for reading.
Good-day!
