Hello steemians and welcome in this tiny review of the last Wolverine movie : Logan.
The review is not spoiler free, so if you did not watch Logan yet... go away :) !
I had, finally, to watch Logan yesterday and i was very hyped. Everyone keeps telling me it was a very good wolverine movie and maybe the best one ever made.
So, my expectations was very high about Logan and after two hours ... this was weird.
Logan is not a bad movie, we can't say that, but the movie has too many major flaws and is far away from the best marvel movies :
The good points :
- Action
The best point in the movie. If you love action, you will be serve. Logan got some intense action scene and some very cool battle choregraphy. Logan is bestial, angry, a true wolverine.
- Dafne Keen !
This little girl is gold. Her acting seems perfect to me. The way she looks at the camera, she moves, she fight ... A very talented young girl and i hope they do some sequel with her !
The bad points :
- Scenario ?!
Did Logan have a scenario ? Seriously ? Going to point A to point B and ... that's it. I was 1 hour 30 in the movie and was wandering : when the fuck the story is going to start ?
- The bad guys
I guess this was the guy in Narco and he was looking and acting (weirdly )exactly the same way. In the history of bad guy, he earn a spot on the list of the baddest bad guy in the history. He got no power, never fight and die like the character he was : in a shittiest way.
There was a second bad guy, the other wolverines, no story, no background, just a clone who come and fight like a mindless robot. Gosh, the vilains in this movie was not charismatic for a penny.
- Charles Xavier
Sometimes, some scenarist want to unload a pile of shit on an iconic character and i guess it was Charles Xavier turn.
One of the most respectful and powerful mutant turn out to be an annoying vulgar old dad. And no, this was not a way for Charles Xavier to die ! Come on scenarist, you can't do something like that, you can't kill Charles Xavier like this... The material was here, Charles Xavier is one the best character of the X-men story, he could have die like a hero, i don't know, while saving the little girl ? Or Logan ? Or the family who did not ask to die this night ? Just not this way.
The i don't know if this if a good point point :
Violence - Gore
Wolverine is gore ... very gore. I can easily imagine some dad bringing their 10 years old kid to wolverine and keep calming the poor kid "Don't worry, Wolverine will not come in your dream...".
Many movies try to be trash this days, the level of violence in television is rising, years by years. It's not a problem for me but it's ankward and concerning.
I understand, they wanted to do a very dark movie, but killing everyone just for killing everyone is not a good way. We need a scenario, we need empathy, we need attachment with the characters, and here, we don't give a fuck about anyone. Doing a dark wolverine movie was a cool idea but this was not the right way of doing it.
In summary
A cool action movie, an incredible little girl, an annoying old Charles, a very tired Logan, pointless bad guys, pointless death and a scenario who seems to be forgotten.
