I hated the use of Chinese in Firefly. It was butchered, artificially injected, and made no sense. A true English-Chinese fusion culture would have a more seamless integration of English and Chinese grammatical and pronunciation norms. Living in Singapore, I hear it every day. I felt that the creators could have eliminated the Chinese without significantly influencing the worldbuilding.

But I seem to be in the minority.
