For weeks, we have been talking about craving samgyeopsal. As a couple, we also share the same taste buds when it comes to foods we want to eat. Since we were on a tight budget, we had to wait for the perfect chance to satisfy our cravings. And after countless days of waiting, my payday finally came, and I asked him to dinner out. There's nothing wrong with a woman asking his partner to have a date too.
We wanted to go to Famealy Korean Restaurant, a cozy spot we'd heard about from friends and seen on social media posts. I think it just opened recently, and we wanted to try it there. As soon as we got there, we were welcomed by the hospitable staff and greeted with the tempting aroma of grilled pork. I loved the interior, and there are a lot of tables set up for grilling, and the surroundings give a Korean vibe.
Upon checking their menu, we ordered the unlimited pork set, complete with unlimited drinks and side dishes. The server quickly set up our grill on the table. Then, my partner began bringing plate after plate of sliced pork belly and side dishes while I was busy taking pictures of the surroundings.
One of the best parts of samgyeopsal is the side dishes that accompany the grilled pork. Famealy Restaurant did not disappoint. Our table was soon filled with small plates of potato marble, fresh lettuce, sweet banana slices, stir-fried japchae noodles, kimchi, fishcake, and even melted cheese. My partner got everything for us. There was also a selection of fresh fruits that were refreshing and perfect desserts.
Each bite was a new combination of flavors and textures coming from spicy kimchi, creamy cheese, and of course, the juicy pork itself. The unlimited drinks kept us refreshed and ready for more, whether it was a sweet iced tea or plain water. While eating, I also started telling my partner about office drama. He always listened to me whenever I shared stories about work and what I had gone through during the day.
By the end of the meal, I paid at the counter, and we were really satisfied. Dining at Famealy Korean Restaurant was the right decision I made when thinking about where to have our samgyeopsal date. We enjoyed every wrap and bite. We will definitely go back here.
