Most of the people who knew that I am living in a community surrounded by mountains, beaches, and rivers always told me that I am lucky and blessed. It is because I get to spend time with nature anytime I want. I know that not everyone has the chance to see a wonderful view just a few steps away from home. And sometimes I get comments about how they have been longing to be with nature.
I have been in some sort of life crisis in the past few days. I was in the middle of overthinking my future and getting pressured thinking about who I want to become in the outside world. It's good to finally be back and share another blog with everyone - and not just an ordinary one. It's time to flaunt another picnic site here in our place. I took a #WednesdayWalk on a renovated dam just a few minutes away from home.
The weather was good even with the cloudy sky. It was a great day for a walk but I had no idea where to go at first, but suddenly remembered the renovated dam that became a picnic site here in our place. Luckily, a few friends called that they will come over to visit me so I told them that we might as well take a walk in the place I mentioned.
The waves from the leaves of the trees and the green environment welcomed us when we are on our way to the dam. We have been living here for years, and the vibe around here did not change at all. We still have the same green grasses, bamboo trees, and rice fields like how the place used to be since we got here. And it was always overwhelming.
The green and healthy grasses we are seeing along the way soothe our eyes, plus the vibe that the tall pine trees have. I don't know why, but the greenery feels calming and relaxing, especially the part where almost the whole portion of the land was covered with grasses.
After a few walks, I finally heard the water flowing and saw the picnic site with a few people enjoying the day too. It has been a while since I last went here, so it was my chance to appreciate the place. Actually, it's not the kind of dam that you might be picturing out in your mind. It doesn't have a heavy blast of water, just let me show you how it looks like for an easier explanation.
I guess it's a smaller version of the usual dam. Anyway, this place has been renovated due to the effect of the typhoon before. I cannot remember the year when it was renovated, but all I know was the area was closed to the public during those months.
And right after the successful renovation, people from the neighboring towns started enjoying a dip here, especially during the summer. There are Nipa Huts around which are perfect for family picnics and celebrations. Take a look at the part where you can enjoy the water.
One of the good things about this place is that both the kids and adults can enjoy the swimming. The part below the dam are perfect for the kids, but the adults must also watch over them to avoid unexpected incidents.
Just a trivia: The lower part here is also a place where people can wash their clothes. I have seen some of them doing it, since the water is flowing. It must be a great way to save water at home.
Now, let's go the higher part of the dam. This is where adults mostly go, or those who knows how to swim. My friends and I had a few steps to see the spot where we used to swim before. We started reminiscing the days when we were jumping and diving here. Yes, we also used to enjoy dipping ourselves in this water, and we cannot stop ourselves in having conversations about how it looked like before the renovation.
Kids are not advised to be here, unless they are with adults since the water is deep compared to the lower part of the dam. Also, it would be best for the kids to stay where they can swim safely to avoid accidents, like drowning.
It was a fun Wednesday Walk with my friends and the conversations we had about our memories were great, too. Back when we were in high school, we used to spend time in this dam. We have seen this place way back before it undergone renovation. There has no major changes, but I can say that it was better and safer one now, not unlike before.
