I have always lived with illusion, I give everything that sense of dedication that also mixes expectations and joys. Living with that emotion is more pleasant, the opposite is disillusionment, but I try not to give room for that.
The problem here is that there is not always a correspondence to this way of feeling. That's why the search has always gone in that direction, to surround myself with people who have that energy alive.
A day without illusion is like a kind of Sunday, heavy, long and dense. There are people who call themselves "practical", who claim to have their feet on the ground, but the fact is that we all have them, apart from figurative language, I have not met the first person who levitates and those same individuals deep down have their illusions but do not tell them and go around trying to unseat the others.
I believe that illusion gives strength and dynamism to our environment, and it is materialised in those gifts that we prepare in advance to welcome, congratulate or thank for all the good things we have. A clear example is when a baby is going to be born, be it our own or that of someone we love. We wait to organise their room, clothes, toys and most of the conversations revolve around this event.
The illusion has something of anticipation as well, we savour in advance that achievement and we imagine how all the events related to it will take place. I remember when we bought the house, an unexpected excitement came over me and I can still remember it well and relive it as many times as I want, that excitement was surrounded with the illusion of all that I could achieve by having a flat of my own.
When each of my grandchildren were born, new emotions have arisen, and as they have grown up, others have arisen that are linked to their hobbies. I visit them three or four times a year, several of my grandchildren are musicians, and if they say to me: "don't go yet, there will be a concert on a certain date", it is certain that I will stay to relive those moments of happiness.
At the moment I have a particular illusion, I have managed to make a contract, thanks to Hive, with a fibre optic company, I will have internet, until now I have been working with data plans and that limits my performance on the platform, I know that with internet I will be able to read more, comment more and participate in such excellent proposals that abound in Discord. Tell me if it's not enough to get my hopes up.
Getting excited about the little things gives the possibility of seeing concrete achievements and the sum of many of them maintains a constant positive energy. Several years ago I bought a plant called Desert Flower; last year it finally gave a single seed-bearing pod, my son successfully planted several of them and has been sending me photographs of its progress. We have both kept the illusion of seeing those seeds germinate, this year he might bring me a plant for my garden, they are small things that bring joy.
And if you can do the small things that seemed difficult, you can also achieve the big things, then it is worthwhile to hope for a better life for Venezuelans, better conditions for the planet and greater wisdom for the people who inhabit the earth.
