Impulsividad, reflexión y aprendizajes necesarios//Impulsivity, reflection and necessary learning

There are many occasions where I have questioned myself for having had a reaction or made a decision that I could have thought a little more before acting. In recent times I have become more aware of this, however, it is not something where you can make sudden changes, I guess it takes time and the first step is this, to recognize that you are impulsive and that it is necessary to change.
How to have self-control and how to tame impulses as a tool of emotional intelligence? This is the topic that corresponds to us to reflect on this opportunity, within the initiative that our friend @damarysvibra proposes us, within her column Integrales and in Expansion, in the Holos& Lotus community.
Self-control and how to tame impulses is a daily task, not yet fully achieved. When I was a child some ten years old maybe, I was playing in the yard when stones started to fall coming from the neighboring yard, I ran to tell my mom, she asked me to stay inside, but I insisted her to notice where the stones were coming from, then I said: "I am going to go tell the neighbor", my mom reproached me, but in view that she was not going to do anything and I felt that we had the right, I went to the neighbor, the grandmother attended me and I told her that stones were falling from her house to ours and I went back to tell my mom, who was very upset and went to apologize to that lady. My mother avoided having problems with other people.
This fact shows me two things about my behavior: when I feel I am right and when nobody else does anything I take the flag. When I worked at the high school, one day the students told me about a series of problems already known to everyone, but that they were lagging behind without anyone doing anything. I told them that I would go at once to raise the issue with the school administration, but first I went to the other classrooms and informed each teacher of a sudden meeting that would take place soon.
A few minutes later we were all in the office, I took the lead, but the other colleagues joined in and the management team listened to us. I left with answers for the students, who had already gathered in the central square; and the solutions came without delay. That time my impulsiveness paid off, even my image within the school was favorably affected.
In the same way, there were powerful reasons and nothing was being done, so my action was positive and showed me a way of proceeding applicable to any context. Move things, try to make something happen, or as they say in the plain: "kick the harp".
Do situations necessarily have to go that way? I think not, it is not a must. Because impulsiveness brings with it a surprise factor that is unpredictable. I could have gotten off that time with a reprimand, a memo or a report card for anarchic behavior and disturbing the school peace, but I did well.
This factor of the unpredictable and also unpredictable, makes that any impulsive action can generate more serious situations. Generally we have a personal censor who reproaches us: "you should have waited", "you shouldn't have acted like that", "you shouldn't have said that". And in other cases he congratulates us because if we had not acted that way something worse would have happened. Like when I took my son, intoxicated with shrimp, to a hospital, I forced my way in and arrived at the doctor's office, who, upon seeing my son's red and swollen face, immediately interrupted what she was doing to give me a message so that I could run to buy the medicine.
So, if reason, and the fact that nothing is being done, is added to the emergency, there is no doubt that impulsivity is necessary.
Evaluating impulsivity, in the light of emotions, leads us to the search for equanimity, to the valuation of what is urgent, what is personal, what is important, what is fair, what is necessary and not to lose sight of self-knowledge. In this search for balance comes into play the search for everything that generates peace. We know when we have done damage with that word that did not stop. In the end, we will always review whether or not it was beneficial to have acted impulsively, and if it is possible to tie a little bell to anticipate when we are going to throw ourselves over the cliff.
