The Amber or Amer Fort is located on a forested hill in Amer town, Jaipur. Amer fort Jaipur is one of the major tourist attraction that drives millions of visitors around the world. The Amber town was built by the Chanda clan of Meenas, later it was ruled by Maharaja Man Singh, the Kachwaha King of Amber. Maharaja Jai Singh – I expanded the Amber fort structure. Today, Amber Fort is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites along with five other forts of Rajasthan.

The Amer fort Jaipur has aesthetically pleasing Hindu styles of painting and artistic works. Various part of the Amer Fort is ornamented with Mughal and Rajput styles. The palace has large defensive walls, series of gates, old-fashioned walk-way, and a small lake [Maota]. The entire palace is perfect for photography. This attractive Jaipur fort is built with marble and red sandstone.

The fort got its name from Ambikeshwar Temple, built at the Jaigarh Fort on Cheel ka Teela. Ambikeshwar is the local name of Lord Shiv. Another story suggests that the fort derives its name from Amba Devi, the Mother Goddess Durga.

Amer Fort Timings and Tickets
The Amer Fort Jaipur timing starts from early 8:00 AM till 6:00 PM in the evening. You can also enjoy elephant riding in Amber Fort from morning 7:30 AM till afternoon 12:30 PM. For more details on fort visit timings, contact on 0141-2530293. The Amer fort entrance ticket is 500* INR for a foreigner tourist. You can also enjoy elephant ride in Amer fort for INR 1100*.

Light and Sound Show at Amer Fort Jaipur
You can also enjoy light and sound show at Amber Fort. The spectacular light and sound show in English starts from 7:30 PM in the evening, and in Hindi, it starts from 8:00 PM in the evening at Kesar Kyari. Amitabh Bachchan narrated the glorious history of amber fort and palace.

Architectural Layout: Amer Fort Jaipur
Located 11KM away from Jaipur, the fort has four different parts, each with a separate entry gate. The main entry gate is through the ‘Suraj Pol Gate’ which opens up into the main courtyard. The gate open to Jaeb Chawk, which is the first courtyard. There is an elegant Shila Devi temple to the right of the entrance.

Diwan-e-Aam
The Diwan-e-Aam of Amer Fort Jaipur is also known as the hall of public audience. The hall is open on three sides and ornamented with mosaic glassworks. This Diwan-e-Aam stands with the support of two rows of pillars. These pillars are also ornamented & a certain charm to the entire hall.
