Some of us Christian are always wondering how they can feel the presence of God, and also how they can know that the Holy Spirit is in them. The best way to remind yourself is to see this as a relationship. And just as you are in a relationship with someone you cannot force anything to happen.
Let's look at this practically, if you are in a relationship with somebody and you want to love them, and you want to really love them because they love you, then you can just make yourself love them, this love will only come with time, it comes through spending enough time with them, through getting to know them, it is not going to be genuine if you overthink and force yourself. Take some of those pressure out of yourself and try to feel something.
Your relationship with God should not be based on what you have seen other people have heard or experience. Your relationship with God should be something that you are building from the ground up, it would never look like that of others. When you actually know you love somebody, sometimes it might take time to love them.
When I was in the best stages of growing my relationship with God, one day somebody spoke to me about how God does not mind waiting to earn our trust. God does not mind waiting for you to know and realize how much he loves you, so that you can begin to grow to love him back also, it is a process. And in the right time you will begin to feel his presence and his love, because you won't be overthinking it, you will be able to let your guard down.
