Me preguntó:

The reflection of the furry friend and the cup of coffee

I left work on Friday at 5pm, 1 hour after everyone else. It was a tough week full of work, phone calls with upset clients and my boss over my shoulder asking for more and more reports.

I had my thermos in my purse, the one that keeps drinks hot that my mother gave me for my last birthday. I walked into the coffee shop on the corner of the office and amidst the bustle of people I ordered a double espresso with a touch of cocoa and cinnamon. I put it in my thermos and went to my refuge, Central Park.

At the end of the park there is a small viewpoint, you can see how the horizon waits patiently to cover the sun between flashes of colors. It is a beautiful spectacle that makes me get lost watching the clouds and forget everything.

I have a special bench in the park. I arrive and wait until it is free to settle down. It is in the center of the gazebo and has another seat behind it. That way no one bothers me.

When the sun's rays were giving that violet hue to the clouds. I felt that someone sat in the back seat. I didn't want to lose detail of the sunset so I didn't waste my time turning around.

A soft but firm voice began to speak to me:

How strange humans are, they have everything in life and waste their time. They can go to school and learn new things, but they prefer to waste their days like bums in the park on a skateboard. They have the ability to express to their families that they love them and many die without ever uttering an I love you. They can enjoy the wonders of nature and are bent on destroying it to replace trees with buildings.
Those who have nothing aspire to have wealth, those who have everything squander and return to poverty. They do not value the feelings of others, no one cares about anything.

I sighed and nodded -You're absolutely right, it's mass madness- I told him to calm his lament.

It hurts me to see how kids are so carefree and don't appreciate the wonders of every day. It's a shame.

She sighed and before I said anything else. He asked me:

Dude, could you share your coffee with me please? I need a sip of that precious liquid.

I quickly grabbed my thermos and poured it into a cup, which in turn is the lid. I extended my hand to him while I said: - Of course friend, it's no problem to share with you.

But neither hand came near me to receive the cup of steaming coffee. I got up from the park bench and no one was there. I looked both ways, for it was too fast for the person with whom I had been pondering human behavior to vanish.

In the back seat was a huge caramel-colored dog. He looked old and tired. He was the size of an average person. I looked at him and smiling I said to joke with myself:
Coffee is for you?

With his eyes fixed on my mug and his beard raised to inhale the sweet aroma of cocoa and cinnamon, he replied softly -A yes it is my friend, thank you very much.
