Hello everybody, This is the artwork that i created while ago. It was inspired from the movie "The Martian". In this post, i will briefly walk you through the process on how i was able to create this artwork.

At first, I created a plane and sculpted it to make it look like a terrain and added a camera and positioned it to make a composition. Then i added a sphere to make it look like a distant planet. After completing the basic scene setup, i added a astronaut in the scene. I manually added the cluster of big rocks and small heaps around them. Then i scattered the small rocks on the ground using MASH.

After placing everything on place, i started adding textures to the models. Now that i have completed placing everything on place and texturing them, i started lighting them. I quickly added some volumetric fog and depth of field to the camera to give it more depth. I played around with the settings until i got the results i wanted. When i was finally satisfied with the results, i rendered out the image with some AOVs (Z depth, GI, Reflections, Refractions, SSS ). I took every thing to photoshop and composited them together.
