Hello Folks
Welcome To My Blog!
[No 4, 20th/2/23]
I am Cesca Jove and I hail from Nigeria. Most users here in this blockchain mistake my identity for an American which I am not. I guess that notion was derived from my nickname, well not for those that know me. When the country "Nigeria" is brought up anywhere, what comes to the individual's mind at first is Deceit, Evil, Fraudsters, Untrustworthy, Chaotic, Selfish, and Disastrous with any other bad terms you deemed it fit.
What one needs to understand is that it is the citizens, not everyone, who corrupts the economy just like a bad egg corrupts the rest. In essence, we have hardworking fellows, genuine folks, and trustworthy people out there you haven't met. The act of equalizing and generalizing everyone should be aborted and this should be applied to other countries too that have been bad-mouthed and trampled upon because of what transpires within the country and most especially the ruling bodies (government).
Let us overlook other nasty terms that are used to describe this country and focus on the term "Chaotic" which is presently happening at the moment. The presidential election of an intending candidate from different political parties to fill in the position of the president and vice president seats is slated to take place on February 25th, 2023, which is roughly six days from now. The active president tenor is about to come to an end, which we all know happens after the office runs for four years since Nigeria became a democratic nation.
MAYHEM IN MASS DISPENSING OF NEW NOTE
There have been so many rumors spreading everywhere that the bank's creation of new naira notes to replace old notes was a strategy to seize them for embezzlement and rigging of the election. There is no way to prove this but the scarcity of the new note made it look like it is true, the creation of this new note began sometime around late September. I am curious to know why weren't enough notes were produced despite knowing that the population of Nigerian citizens is large or was it created in a particular quota for the famous politicians in authority to use because of their influence and connection to oppress the average mass? Unbelievably but true, Nigerians located in various countries have put up their social media account to display the Nigerian new currency that citizens residing in Nigeria are fighting for and how easy it was for them to acquire it through the point of sales (POS) terminals.
One question that struck my mind is how they get that new notes over there despite the chaotic demonstration and outraged destruction of properties by the citizens because of lack of cash at hand.
There are so many conspiracies behind the production of new currency to which so many angry protesters can attest to it, and the poor circulation and distribution of these notes are alarming despite the central bank of Nigeria issuing a deadline for the submission of the old notes on January 31st. After which the deadline was moved to February 10th and the deliberations are still in effect. To date, citizens are cashless, there is an excessive lament from Nigerians, people are going into intense depression and thoughts of suicide are outrageous. But everyone is being optimistic that after this coming election, everything will go back to being normal and even the old notes will still be acceptable and I expect so too.
TURBULENCE IN THE BANKING SECTOR NETWORK.
The hassle that has been hovering around the banking network and its services has been affecting inter-banking and intra-banking transactions. The rate at which transactions are pending (that is hanging in the balance) for a long period without reaching their recipient is so frustrating and annoying.
Compiling these major problems that are significant and essential for the welfare of every individual for their daily basic amenities, the government is failing to deploy strategies to combat them. Prominent financial institutions shut down for reasons like; public complaints, lack of customer services to the extremely demanding public, destruction of branch properties, and most importantly the banking network being unstable for effective services.
The effect of this cashless parade is heavily weighted on the average public and we are the victims of these unfortunate circumstances. Mostly every individual doesn't have access to their own hard-earned money because of the policy imposed by the government. Has anyone aside from my fellow Nigerians experienced such bafflement?
SCARCITY OF PETROLEUM
When it was during the era of fuel scarcity, the actual price inflated from 30% to 60%. The struggle to purchase fuel became a hunt for individuals. Residents introduce propaganda and a pattern of leaving their various homes in the earliest hours of the morning to queue for the purchase of fuel and this evolved into a norm in society.
The government devised a means of still extorting from the poor masses through the increment of petroleum and because it is so needed to handle activities, residents had no choice but to purchase.
Currently, as I write this, the cost of fuel increased from the initial price (of 180 naira) to the price of (350 naira) per liter and now it appears as the norm since the scarcity has subsided. What should I say our dearest country is turning into if we the citizens do not vote wisely for the next election happening in a few days!?... The results would hold us all for four years! Are you concerned about now or bothered about the future and the consequences? The transition starts with us! Vote wisely!
These are random thoughts roaming my keen mind as I wander into a state of oblivion鈥e could use your opinions and ideas in this current situation! Kindly use the comment section, let's dialogue and analyze this issue.
Till next time guys, stay FIERCE馃!!
