One of the most difficult things in this material was to find a companion image because a German team of scientists created a device that can make an object invisible in three dimensions.
The "invisible hat" hides the objects using light with a wavelength close to that visible to the human eye.
Previous such inventions managed to conceal what was meant to be hidden, in only two dimensions, and the object became visible when the observer's point of view changed.
The study was led by Tolga Egrin of the Karlsruhe Technological Institute in Germany. The scientist explains that the concept behind the invention is that space can be "transformed" by the matter around it. "Ergin and his colleagues have developed a photon material that influences the behavior of nearby light rays.
"You can think of every possible transformation you want to get, and make material to imitate it," explains the expert.
