I have a similar attitude as you for my own job. Some would say that "I'm a mailman", and I might even say that, but really what I think is just being a guy who delivers mail. An interesting thing I remember from a psychology class: the teacher gave us a task to fill in 10 sentences starting with "I am..." After doing it, the teacher said that most of the time people fill them with concept that organize us in our social environment. "I'm a teacher. I'm a husband." etc. Though when I did it, I defined myself with qualitative concepts in 9 of the sentences rather than with social roles.
