The company tries to improve the product, enters new market segments and distribution channels, and slightly reduces its prices. This is followed by a stage of maturity, in which sales growth decreases and profits stabilize. The company seeks innovative strategies that include changes in the market, the product and in the marketing mix, to renew sales growth.

Finally, the product enters a stage of decline in which little can be done to determine the deterioration of sales and profits. The work of the company is to identify the really weak product; develop a strategy of continuation, focus for each and finally, eliminate little by little the weak products, in such a way that the damage to the profits of the company, employees and customers is minimal.
