You may or may not know, but I follow a lot of mma news & watch a lot of fights. It is the most difficult sport to compete in & I have a lot of respect for the competitors. There are so many different elements to learn & so many tactical options for fighters to use in combat.
Intelligence is key, & the UFC recently signed one of the smartest fighters in the game, Ben Askren. The guy is 18-0 (one no contest), former Olympian, ncaa champ, & he almost never gets hit due to his mastery of folk/funk style wrestling.
Some “fans” find his style boring, but the goal of any fight is to win while taking as little damage as possible & he is the best in the game as far as I can tell. Perhaps ufc strikers will be able to catch him before he traps them in his wrestling quicksand or perhaps not, no official fights scheduled yet but will be fun to watch and see.
& to top it off, the guy puts “amateur disc golfer” on his list of five accomplishments. I bet he can snap the shit out of a disc with that kung fu grip !
I also played quite a bit of disc golf in my day & disc golfers are usually great people.
