I read a post yesterday by @greenshiner and it reminded me of the constant conversation us entrepreneurs are having with the market place. No matter the industry.
As a young entrepreneur new to the game this can be scary and a roller coaster of emotions. As a great man once said small business owners (entrepreneurs) are the only people to go from pure exhilaration to sheer terror and back every 24hrs. This is because the market is constantly telling you what your doing either sucks or is great. The next big thing or failing horribly. Constantly testing what your made of.
This conversation is what makes great honest men and women concurs of industry and also is what weeds out the sleazy schemers.
Think about it like this. Lets say your car breaks down and you take it to a new mechanics shop. This mechanic says hes found the problem and also found 5 other things that need to be fixed and lets say he charges you $5000 for all of it. A week later your car breaks down again you bring it back to the same mechanic and he says hell fix it but itll be another $1000. Your angry at this point and so you take the car to another mechanic. He looks under the hood and after 5min of fidling with some wires he replaces a fuse and starts your car. Your amazed an ask him how much itll be and he says no charge.
For the next two weeks you tell everyone you know about the scumbag mechanic and the scam he pulled on you, and explain how the good mechanic not only fixed it but did it for free. And for the rest of your life every time someone else needs a mechanic youll tell them not to go to the scumbag.
The scumbag continues this type of business practices for awhile but eventually through word of mouth his practices become known and the market weeds him out. Its the same with the good mechanic and over time through word of mouth his business grows.
This is true in every industry but when your first starting out its hard to see. Through the constant trials and testing of both you and your product it can be discouraging. Take heart always remember to see the big picture. As time goes by youll continue to grow and it might be tempting to take shortcuts but dont. Take on the trials and let yourself and your product be refined
See a need in the market and try to fill it be honest and the more people you can help the more the market will appreciate you and itll show this appreciation with money
Its a long road and a tall ladder to climb but believe me it is worth it
