The most common thing every year is that, it always comes to an end just like every other thing in a human life. That is why reasonable people pay attention to usage of time because it is one of the things we have no control of, it keeps running out no matter what we do. This year started like every other year, the only difference is that, compared to most years, this year I was sure about what I was going to do with it.
A lot of planning has been ongoing since last year regarding the things I wanted to achieve this year. One of the core issues of majority of my plans is lack of resources. We live in an era where the cost of everything has gone beyond what we could possibly imagine. That alone is enough to frighten anyone who is planning on implementing any plan, especially if it is business related. But I had one thing at my disposal which was time, since I had no plans of getting anything done last year, I dedicated it for gathering of resources, which I did.
Last year October crypto dip nearly sank my plans because it was something that caught some of my crypto asset unaware, since it plays a major part of funding my plans, I was this close to letting things go or probably turn my focus towards another thing that doesn't cost much. But since I still had time before this year comes around, my hope didn't completely vanish. Like I said, I still had time. By January this year, I was still not close enough to the budget I needed, I did the one thing that is almost impossible for me to, which is asking for help.
I have friends and family members who could assist me with my plans, but my past disappointment regarding asking for help is something that haunts me till today. I guess I'm used to giving rather being the receiving end of any form of assistance. I chatted up one of my cousins, though she was surprised, like, you are asking for help. I did stammer a little while talking, but I spoke like I was pitching an idea to an investor instead of just mentioning the amount I needed, I explained all that was needed and thankfully I got what I needed.
That was how I funded my fabric business, which my hive earnings also played a part in the implementation, though I nearly blend my wallet dry. For most entrepreneurs can attest to the fact that, starting a business is a lot easier than maintaining it. It is not something most people will understand, you just know when you get to that point. I had to become less available in most things I participated in online but my hive blog wasn't one of them. I held unto it as much as I could.
When I look back, now I can laugh at some of the struggles I encountered. It wasn't easy but God made it possible. I went through different phase of all kind of issues just to stabilize and maintain the brand. Build a social media presence for it was not an easy feat, since I know how to do most of it myself, especially with designs and all, it was a lot easier in getting it done and cost effective. Thanks to AI too, I was able to highlight some difficulties I might come across and how to get things done as fast as possible. Believe me,Canva, Chatgpt, Gemini and Claude became my closest friends at that moment.
I was about closing the chapter for the year and I would have clearly said the most notable of 2026 would have clearly been founding a new brand, a business that thrives up till today. But it clearly isn't, one of my passion was realized in a way I didn't even expect. As educated and experienced as I may seem, I'm a diehard fan of farming and livestock, I was this close to starting up a BSF factory but I let the idea go seeing how much it will cost me in getting it done. Moreover, I had issue with space, especially a land that is well protected.
Thankfully, I got one of those from one of my paternal uncle, who has a fenced land within our vicinity and was looking for someone to help him maintain the space and control the weeds before he comes up with what to do with the space in the future. Seeing how fertile the land is, I approached him and thankfully I got it from him. You can say, I have gotten used to pitching my ideas to people and getting the tools i needed. Though, since I'm still in the process of maintaining my fabric store known as DEGS, I wasn't in the position of making any drastic move.
I decided to make use of the space for cassava planting and for some of you who have been paying attention to my blog, you can testify that it is one thing I have always wanted and I have written quality content regarding somethings related to cassava planting and harvesting. Probably I might decide to publish more about it as my farming endeavors progresses.
So if there is one thing I'm looking forward to, that will be maintaining both the farm and my brand. Well, if I get really lucky, like very lucky in terms of funds, I might decide to start planning my BSF factory but then, it just a thought for now. This year has been really productive so far and I'm content with what I have achieved so far.
