Welcome to The 5, a weekly selection of five #creativecoin artists and their posts curated by the Creative Coin Fund.
Our curation team is at work seven days a week, finding and rewarding quality content on the new Creative Coin front end (https://www.creativecoin.live/) and through the Creative Coin Discord.

The painting of
@gric
Reminiscent of Hieronymus Bosch and Zdzisław Beksiński, the artist @gric presents at once a frightening scene but also one of magnificent beauty in Just finished my third and last painting in 2021. In the artwork that feels almost real, the viewer's eyes try to grasp something familiar in the strange world. Greeted by a lonely figure at the bottom of the artwork, the viewer feels somewhat satisfied with the familiar. But this is when the familiarity starts to break down: who is this figure and what is it doing in this strange world? Forming part of the root system of the strange (what we presume is a) tree, the figure clings to the life-giving source.
The writing of
@cristiancaicedo

The collage making of
@raj808
I'm continually amazed at the collages created by members of the Let's Make a Collage community. It's truly a community where creatives can playfully let their imaginations run wild. In this sample from Round 105 of LMAC's collage making contest, @raj808 imagines Santa emigrating to Mars (really!). But what element would be necessary for such a move? Snow,
@raj808 points out. And of course 'Mars Buddha' is present to help manifest the snow for Santa and his elves. This festive holiday image results from the practice of playful, unfettered imagination, which perhaps no other community on Hive engenders quite like LMAC. Also of note is the extensively detailed effort
@raj808 put in to rework the provided template and combine the additional images, a process that is well explained in his post.
The drawing of
@tezzmax
Avoiding our gaze, the human figure in Study Sketch by @tezzmax looks to the side. Yet, taunting us to look at its body, it lures us to look and to gaze. Standing upright and flaunting the masculine body, we as the viewer find pleasure in this body that is available to our eyes. Drawing in what I like to call an 'unfinished artistic style' the artist provides us with a beautiful drawing of the human body. Using a hard and dark line that stretches from the torso to the chest, our eyes are pulled to the middle of the figure’s body. Using dark contrasts to highlight the light, the figure turns to the source of this light and starts to walk away from our gaze in a perpetual turning away.
