Utopian is the only platform to reward contributions to Open Source projects by making use of a decentralized, vote-based reward system that is built on top of the STEEM Blockchain. Utopian seeks to enable professionals in their contribution to the Open Source movement. Furthermore, this platform not only rewards contributors, but also rewards project owners through cryptocurrency.
In order to pay for the rewards, Utopian.io utilizes the Steem Blockchain. This cryptocurrency; STEEM, is generated through votes (upvotes) made by a community of Steem holders. These tokens are generated autonomously through a rewards pool that regenerates on a daily basis. Steem tokens are then distributed using an algorithm called Proof-of-Brain, which incentivizes people to curate and develop quality content and open source contributions.
The modern world is pushing towards (and largely being fueled by) open source software. Open Source software is free-to-use common property and allows everyone to be able to use it and change it to their preferences. It's decentralized in a way that it is based on collective intelligence between everyone on an equal standing rather than standards that are imposed by a higher force on the ladder. In addition to this platform being free, Utopian rewards everyone who contributes to such projects.
