Welcome Gems friends, today I want to share a recycling story with you.
I have always liked to renew and recycle objects and pieces of clothing that we are no longer using, but that can provide us with interesting and creative elements such as brightly colored beads, metallic pieces, colorful ribbons or old purse handles. Some time ago I observed in a small craft shop a very nice jewelry that caught my attention and I thought they were made with ceramic, but when I looked more closely I realized that they were made of 'paper'!

Llegue a mi casa dispuesta a ponerme creativa y puse manos a la obra. La materia prima para estas joyas ecològicas es el papel del que están echas, para ello podemos utilizar todas esas revistas viejas que hemos visto mil veces y no sabemos que hacer con ellas (Vanidades, Cosmopolitan, Hola! y muchas más) cuyo papel es liso y brillante con muchos colores, ideales para muestro trabajo, también debemos tener hilo elàstico, cuentas de colores para combinar, aguja punta roma, papel, cordel, cintas, nylon y cualquier otro detalle que estime tu creatividad.
I came home ready to get creative and got to work. The raw material for these ecological jewels is the paper from which they are made, for this we can use all those old magazines that we have seen a thousand times and do not know what to do with them (Vanidades, Cosmopolitan, Hola! and many more) whose paper is smooth and bright with many colors, ideal for showing work, we must also have elastic thread, blunt tip needle, colored beads to combine, glue for paper, string, ribbons, nylon and any other detail that estimates your creativity.

For this post I will show you how to make two types of pieces that you can combine to your liking to make necklaces, bracelets or charms to give to your friends on a special occasion, they will be unique pieces, low cost and made with recycled .
La primera tècnica consiste en picar tiras de papel de diferentes largos y anchos dependiendo del tamaño que quieras lograr en la pieza. Las que utilizamos aquí tienen un ancho de 2 cm y 20 cm de largo, se doblan sobre si misma dejando visible el color escogido del papel, se pega el doblez para que quede una tira delgada y firme, esta se va enrollando y pegando apretadita sobre si misma como espiral con la ayuda de un palito fino. Si quieres una pieza mas grande, mas larga debe ser la tira.
Cómo enrollar las tiras de papel para obtener piezas redondas en espiral/How to roll the paper strips to get round pieces in a spiral.
The first technique consists of cutting strips of paper of different lengths and widths depending on the size you want to achieve in the piece. The ones we use here are 2 cm wide and 20 cm long, they are folded on itself leaving the chosen color of the paper visible, the fold is glued to make a thin and firm strip, it is rolled up and glued tightly on itself as a spiral with the help of a thin stick. If you want a larger piece, the longer the strip should be.
La segunda tècnica, consiste en picar el papel de revista en triángulos y enrollarlos sobre si mismo, si quieres una pieza mas grande recortaràs un triangulo con la base mas grande, puedes hacer una prenda con todas las piecitas del mismo tamaño y entonces todos los triángulos deben ser iguales o elaborar una prenda con piezas de tamaños diferentes, depende de tu creatividad.
The second technique consists of cutting the magazine paper into triangles and rolling them on itself, if you want a larger piece, you will cut out a triangle with a larger base, you can make a garment with all the pieces of the same size and then all the triangles They must be the same or make a garment with pieces of different sizes, it depends on your creativity.
Para conservar estas piezas de papel (y la prenda dure mas tiempo) te recomiendo las pintes con esmalte de uñas transparente y las dejes secar antes de montarlas en el hilo elàstico (si creas una pulsera) o en el cordel o hilo de nylon (si es un dije o collar respectivamente).
To preserve these pieces of paper (and the garment lasts longer) I recommend you paint them with transparent nail polish and let them dry before mounting them on the elastic thread (if you create a bracelet) or on the string or nylon thread (if It is a pendant or necklace respectively).
