Hi,
Sex education is a very important topic yesterday, today and always.
I still remember very clearly in my memory when my parents, one day out of the blue, after a day at the beach where we were fishing for octopus. When we got home, they tried to explain certain sexual concepts to me, clearly nervous.
I was 9 years old and a few days after my first communion. I remember that their explanations were a bit vague, shy and not knowing very well how to explain the situation. I, at that age, in the early 90's, had some notion about sexuality, but his explanations, although nervous, were accurate and were a good basis for my later development. I was able to have a full, healthy and respectful sexuality towards my partners.
In the early 1990s, 9 years old was a good age to talk about sex education.
Today, the increasingly early access to technology by children is a difficult problem to face from the point of view of access to pornographic content and creating a distorted image of sexuality.
In my country with 9 years old, many children already have their cell phone with internet access, with a blocking of access to certain pages by parental control, but there are still forms of access to content that are not suitable for those ages.
With the advent of artificial intelligence, in recent months I have read in the press authentic barbarities such as the case of classmates as young as 10-11 years old with the help of some older children, in which they have recreated photos of their naked classmates with subsequent dissemination on social networks. That is, there is a real problem of education and sex education in particular.
That is why, from my humble point of view the best age at which we should educate our young people in sex education is the earliest in which their parents and educators see a certain maturity to understand certain basic concepts and go educating in equality and respect throughout childhood and throughout adolescence.
In short, investing time and resources in education and sex education is a way to achieve better generations in values and avoid future problems.
Best regards.
