Down to Coolangatta Mountain for a weekend away : October 2 2026

Headed down out of Sydney just after midday for the Labour Day long weekend. My wife drove a big slice - that is good news 10 days after her concussion. I drove the rest. Was raining when we got to Shoalhaven Heads

Big rain over the mountain from the lounge room - feels like an umbrella walk to get the steps done

Noticed a change over the mountain with wind shift from south to north. That suggests a spell of dry

Took the chance for a walk without an umbrella - mission - an orchid photo. Bottlebrush and raindrops might be a recurring theme

Got the orchid photo at our front gate. Had seen it on the drive in from the shops

Walked around the front of the bowling club. Not a for nothing photo. Each black spot is a bogong moth. Been an explosion - not seen since Sydney Olympics in 2000. Surprised to learn they are endangered
