Gerringong to Shoalhaven Heads ride - a change : October 5 2025
A different day lined up. My wife had some shopping missions up the coast. Drove up that way, get those done, did the shopping, have lunch together and got dropped off in Gerringong for a cycle home

Now a sea view - been some years since I cycled this path - going the other way this time
View from Kingsford Smith Reserve in Gerrroa over Seven Mile Beach. Our place is at the far end of the beach
Took the back roads to loop back down to Croeked River Gerroa
Stopped off at Beach Road access to the beach to look for orchids - dyanella were plentiful
Had to look up this flower - a lily of some form - plentiful here but apparently rare
Did find the orchid of the day - pink form of caladenia catenata

Did find a few maroonhoods in a patch seen last time - makes the 2nd orchid type of the day - thinking pterostylis erecta
A bit more front on but not showing labellum - try the one behind
Good view of the labellum - the naming of these is confusing - erecta has the elongated helmet

Did find some caladenia on the way back - this one has some red bands and the pink colouring along the calli
No bands but got the pink colouring
A deeper pink with pink edging on the lobes. This orchid does hybridise with others - did not find a white form parent today - caldenia catenata plus variants day

Got to say Spiderman was hot when he got home
Shopping did include a key ingredient for beef with black bean sauce - made with Berry markets beans - the black bean sauce. Did drop some of my brother-in-law next day. He will enjoy that
