Chiloglottis orchids off track on Lovers Jump Creek : March 1 2023

Went to walk Lovers Jump Creek with misgivings about the track work. This insect was happy to pose for photo
With the track work damaging track edges, had to explore a little deeper off track. Find clearer spots where there is not too much competition for the orchids. The target is wasp orchids - two leaves opposed on the ground and a flower spike. This one has finished
Found one flower left standing on a big rock. It is growing in the moss - big rains nailed most of the colony - moss slid off. Not sure how many will survive when they reach the ground below
Looks like a turtle orchid - side on looks like a turtle - chiloglottis seminuda - no calli on the lower half of the labellum
One last flower for large tongue orchid - cryptostylis subulata
Went off track again above a known spot smashed by the track work. Found a large colony - ID is a bit of a challenge with the notch in the labellum. The rest is consistent with chiloglottis seminuda

Brush turkey has been busy. Luckily the colony is large enough to survive this attack

Fewer plants than last year as the rain has eroded the face they grow on - sharp greenhood

Found this colony of acianthus orchids under the ferns - new spot - heart shaped leaf and a bud
Dropped down to creek to check the other bank for possibilities - no joy - Lovers Jump Creek
Looking down creek. A popular spot to chill and swim and pash - found evidence of the latter.
Crossed to south side - found a new opener for small wasp orchid - chiloglottis sylvestris
Going off track did produce some new orchid spots. A late opener got 3 flowering orchids for the day
