YES, yes, we want to know more! Mom has died, I presume, and Dad, who vowed never to wear the cap she crocheted for him, is now wearing it. And he's snipping green beans (I job I detest) - but I've never tried smoking poppy while doing a dreaded chore. Hmmmm.
Your mom, pulling up poppies - why, because she feared the kids would go Wizard of Oz in them and sink into oblivion? Or start smoking the stuff ....?
I love the scene at the table in your epilogue. And this--
those poppies. I miss those days, so long ago now! When I was young and vibrant, and the only thing I feared was my father.
