Those black oil sunflower seeds are so favored by all the birds, I stopped buying any other kind of seed. Nobody ate the millet. It just fell to the ground and sprouted.
The sunny yellow of the goldfinch makes it one of my favorites - I love seeing them flock up from the native prairie plants, where they would have remained invisible to me, had they not panicked and burst away in flight. Hold still, call no attention to yourselves, little ones... that works for some prey, anyway
