Oooh, I love snakes, and I love your observations here. Our limbless little allies in the garden eat bugs and mice for us - must we find them so creepy? I need to acquire a healthy fear of snakes, or I might have one spit a deadly vemon at me (@gems.and.cookies). Fortunately, here in the Midwest, deadly snakes are rare.
Fear is a good instinct to have, to keep us from taking a closer look at every fascinating new creature we might encounter. It's wired into us for a reason. The fearless may have died off in droves, while the cautious were left behind to contribute to the gene pool and keep us all safe from spiders and snakes.

Great photos! That last one is amazing, with the close-up of those eyes. That face. And it's an empty head. It's all been shed. Something about that is just really creepy.
