Great line - somehow it captures so well that you do what needs to be done, without taking on too many extra duties in a given day.
Then we get to the end - after all these ways you are grateful for your independence, after all the men who've escaped or gotten away or been dismissed, there is one male in your life that should still be here with you but is not.
Funny how all those other men fall into a nameless heap, while your son towers over them in importance.
Or not funny. I don't know what word fits. I only know you start out light-hearted and count your blessings but behind the humor and bravado is that spear, piercing the facade, that pain which is supposed to subside - but as Rose Kennedy said, time does NOT heal all wounds. It only builds scar tissue.....
