Smoking, drinking, and we love this person, this dear family member, love unconditionally, watching and praying but he keeps killing himself gradually day by day, until his body is trashed and that collapsed lung is the only way to get him to stop. When we won't stop, our body eventually protests and forces us to stop.

Thank you for the plea for all of us to take stock. Smoking, drinking, maybe overeating unhealthy stuff (I ache for a 300+-pound friend who eats a whole package of Oreos in one sitting and cannot stop eating).... whatever poison we've picked, we must, for the sake of our loved ones who'll be left behind, be more mindful of what we do to our bodies....
